Fairview Youth Group

Fairview Youth Group

1 Timothy 4:12 - Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young...

Who they are:

They are the youth group that belongs to the Fairview Mennonite Church (1583 North Abbe Road, Fairview, MI, 48621, (989) 848-2953).  The youth group will do jobs around the community to help out people in need.  Also, they try to be involved in as much as they can in the community (to have a positive influence on everyone).

When do they meet:

Youth group is held every Wednesday at 5 and 7 PM at the youth house right by the Fairview Mennonite Church.  The jr. high kids meet at 5, and the high school kids meet at 7.  They gather for games, food, and a message.  They would love for any youth to join them sometime!

The youth house:

A while back, a member of the church sold a house he owned to the church.  The house is right next to the church.  The youth group took full advantage of the house by painting it and loading it with couches and some TV's.  It's easy to say God gave them an awesome blessing.  The house is sometimes open after school, to give kids a place to go.

Things of Interest:

  • Music
    • Tired of the mainstream music that has no positive effect?  Try listening to some Christian bands like Underoath, Showbread, Project 86, and Emery.  These guys are true rockers.  There are Christian bands in almost every genre.
  • Technology
    • The official computer system of the FMC Youth Group is Apple.  This was decided by the past youth pastor.  PC people are still more than welcome to attend.
  • Video Games
    • Almost every time the youth meet, they play video games before some adult speaks.  Just recently they had an Xbox 360 donated and it has been used a ton.  Mainly sports games are played, and the competition can get pretty intense.

The Messages:

Usually, the youth watch a short film about some topic.  If not, one of the adult leaders will give a short talk.  After that, they break up into small groups and talk about what they just saw and/or heard.

REMEMBER:

5 and 7 PM on Wednesdays at the youth house.  Any youth in 6th-12th grade are welcome, God bless!

Other Youth Groups:

Looking for another youth group? There is a Church of God (831 W. Miller Road, Mio, MI, 48647; (989) 848-2415; Mio Church of God) located about eight miles from Fairview. They meet on Wednesday nights for youth group and on Sunday nights for small groups. On Wednesdays, they meet around 6:45 and end around 8:15 or 8:30. They will either have an organized activity or they will just goof around for the first part of youth group. The snack they have can be quite a feast. After they eat, they split up into groups: 6 & 7 graders together and 8-12 together. They usually split girls and guys too. The small groups on Sunday night start at 5 and go till around 7. They also split up the Junior High and Senior High. The youth group also tries to take two trips a year. They will go to youth conventions and take trips to places where they will help out in some way.
